Caravan Rental for Jaisalmer & Rajasthan — Sleep Where the Desert Begins

Forts by day, campfires by night, and a real bed parked beside the Sam Sand Dunes. Rajasthan is the trip the caravan was built for.

Yes — you can rent a caravan for Jaisalmer and Rajasthan. My Rolling Homes runs chauffeur-driven motorhome circuits across Rajasthan from Delhi NCR at ₹19,900 per day plus taxes. The Explorer is fully self-contained — working toilet, hot shower, solar power, 500L of RO-purified water — which is exactly what the Thar Desert demands. Most guests take 7 to 12 days for the Jaipur–Jodhpur–Jaisalmer–Udaipur loop, October through March.

The route

Four Cities, One Desert, No Hotels Required

Rajasthan's highways are among the best in India — long, flat, and fast — which makes it the most comfortable big circuit in the country by RV. The distances between cities (5–6 hours each) are exactly where a caravan earns its keep: lunch moving, naps moving, and no midday hotel limbo.

Campfire beside the caravan near the Sam Sand Dunes, Jaisalmer

Jaisalmer & Sam Dunes

The golden sandstone fort, then 40 km west to the dunes. Camel ride at sunset, campfire at your door, sunrise from your bed.

Caravan under a star-filled desert sky in Rajasthan

Desert Nights

The Thar has some of North India's darkest skies. Solar power means silence after dark — just the Milky Way and the fire.

The Explorer caravan crossing open Rajasthan country

Jodhpur, the Blue City

Mehrangarh Fort towers over an indigo old town. It sits mid-route between Jaipur and Jaisalmer — the perfect overnight stop.

Evening landscape on the road to Udaipur

Udaipur & the Aravallis

Lakes, palaces, and the greenest corner of Rajasthan. Add it on a 10–12 day circuit and loop home via Pushkar and Jaipur.

Starting your India trip in Delhi? The circuit begins with the Golden Triangle — see the Delhi NCR page.

Sample itinerary

9 Days: Delhi → Jaipur → Jodhpur → Jaisalmer → Delhi

Our most-booked winter route. Roughly 2,000 km total, never more than 6 hours of driving in a day.

1–2
Delhi → Jaipur. Free NCR pickup, then NH48 to the Pink City. Amber Fort, Hawa Mahal, and a night parked outside the city noise.
3–4
Jaipur → Jodhpur. A 340 km run west with lunch on board. Mehrangarh Fort at golden hour, the blue lanes of the old city next morning.
5–7
Jodhpur → Jaisalmer → Sam Dunes. The landscape empties into true desert. Jaisalmer Fort and the havelis, then two nights parked near the dunes — camel safari, campfire dinner, and the quietest sleep of your trip.
8–9
Jaisalmer → Bikaner → Delhi. Home via the northern desert road, with a stop at Bikaner's Junagarh Fort. Drop-off at your Delhi hotel or the airport.

Approximate cost: 9 days × ₹19,900 + GST + fuel ≈ ₹2,30,000 total for up to 4 guests. Details on the pricing page.

When to go

October to March. Full Stop.

Oct – Nov

The desert cools, the season opens, and the Pushkar Camel Fair (November) is a genuine spectacle worth routing around. Book months ahead for fair dates.

Dec – Jan

Peak season. Warm days, cold, starlit nights — campfire weather. The caravan's heating and hot shower make desert winter mornings easy.

Feb – Mar

The Jaisalmer Desert Festival (February) plus lengthening days. By late March the heat is building — the last comfortable window before summer.

April to June the Thar regularly crosses 45°C. We'll happily point you to the mountains instead.

Caravan vs. hotels

Why a Motorhome Beats Heritage Hotels in Rajasthan

You sleep at the dunes, not near them

Desert camps near Sam charge resort prices for canvas tents with shared bathrooms. The Explorer parks in the same landscape with a proper mattress, a hot shower, and a door that locks — and moves on in the morning.

Five cities, one unpacking

A hotel-based Rajasthan circuit means checking in and out five times, with luggage in and out of cars daily. On a campervan trip your wardrobe stays in the wardrobe for the entire loop.

Safe water in the driest state

Rajasthan is where travellers most often get caught out by water. On-board RO purification and 500L of fresh water mean you never buy a bottle or take a chance — a big deal for international guests.

The caravan

Built for Places Without Plumbing

The desert is the ultimate test of a self-contained RV — no hookups, no water, fierce sun. The Explorer passes it comfortably, and the sun becomes an asset: 1000W of rooftop solar barely notices the twin ACs.

FAQ

Rajasthan Caravan Trips — Common Questions

Yes. My Rolling Homes runs chauffeur-driven caravan trips across Rajasthan — Jaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Udaipur, and the Sam Sand Dunes — starting from our Delhi NCR base at ₹19,900 per day plus taxes. Most Rajasthan circuits run 7 to 12 days.
Yes — this is the trip everyone remembers. The Explorer parks near the dunes outside Jaisalmer, the crew sets up the awning and campfire chairs, and you sleep in a real bed under desert stars. Solar power and a 500L water tank mean no hookups needed for days.
Seven days covers Jaipur–Jodhpur–Jaisalmer comfortably. Twelve days adds Udaipur and Pushkar without rushing. Jaisalmer alone is a 1,500+ km round trip from Delhi, so we don't recommend anything shorter than six days for the desert.
October to March. Days are warm (20–28°C), desert nights are crisp and perfect for campfires, and the festival calendar — Pushkar Camel Fair in November, the Jaisalmer Desert Festival in February — is in full swing. Avoid April to June, when the Thar exceeds 45°C.
On board, yes. The Explorer carries 500 litres of fresh water with an RO purifier, plus a hot-water shower inside and an outdoor shower for washing off the sand. In a region where water is precious, the caravan is completely self-sufficient.
