Jaisalmer & Sam Dunes
The golden sandstone fort, then 40 km west to the dunes. Camel ride at sunset, campfire at your door, sunrise from your bed.
Yes — you can rent a caravan for Jaisalmer and Rajasthan. My Rolling Homes runs chauffeur-driven motorhome circuits across Rajasthan from Delhi NCR at ₹19,900 per day plus taxes. The Explorer is fully self-contained — working toilet, hot shower, solar power, 500L of RO-purified water — which is exactly what the Thar Desert demands. Most guests take 7 to 12 days for the Jaipur–Jodhpur–Jaisalmer–Udaipur loop, October through March.
Rajasthan's highways are among the best in India — long, flat, and fast — which makes it the most comfortable big circuit in the country by RV. The distances between cities (5–6 hours each) are exactly where a caravan earns its keep: lunch moving, naps moving, and no midday hotel limbo.
Starting your India trip in Delhi? The circuit begins with the Golden Triangle — see the Delhi NCR page.
Our most-booked winter route. Roughly 2,000 km total, never more than 6 hours of driving in a day.
Full pricing logic on the pricing page. Short on days? Our Delhi to Jaisalmer 7-day itinerary covers the straight desert run, day by day.
The Explorer at ₹19,900/day + 18% GST. Driver, helper, generator, 300 km/day pooled — all included. You pay fuel and tolls.

Rajasthan is the easiest big caravan route in India — flat highways, warm weather, great food everywhere — but the desert has its own rules.
The Explorer carries 500L of RO-purified water, but desert heat means you drink more than you expect. We top up at every city stop. Carry oral rehydration salts and drink before you feel thirsty.
SPF 50+, a wide hat, and a scarf for sand. Desert nights drop to 5–10°C in December-January even when days are 25°C — pack layers. The outdoor shower is specifically for washing off sand before stepping inside.
Phone signal works in all Rajasthan cities and on highways. Near the Sam Dunes it gets patchy — download offline maps. Carry some cash (₹5,000–10,000) for dhabas and village stops; cities are fully UPI/card friendly.
The desert cools, the season opens, and the Pushkar Camel Fair (November) is a genuine spectacle worth routing around. Book months ahead for fair dates.
Peak season. Warm days, cold, starlit nights — campfire weather. The caravan's heating and hot shower make desert winter mornings easy.
The Jaisalmer Desert Festival (February) plus lengthening days. By late March the heat is building — the last comfortable window before summer.
April to June the Thar regularly crosses 45°C. We'll happily point you to the mountains instead.
Desert camps near Sam charge resort prices for canvas tents with shared bathrooms. The Explorer parks in the same landscape with a proper mattress, a hot shower, and a door that locks — and moves on in the morning.
A hotel-based Rajasthan circuit means checking in and out five times, with luggage in and out of cars daily. On a campervan trip your wardrobe stays in the wardrobe for the entire loop.
Rajasthan is where travellers most often get caught out by water. On-board RO purification and 500L of fresh water mean you never buy a bottle or take a chance — a big deal for international guests.
The desert is the ultimate test of a self-contained RV — no hookups, no water, fierce sun. The Explorer passes it comfortably, and the sun becomes an asset: 1000W of rooftop solar barely notices the twin ACs.
