The route
A Small District That Rewards Slow Wheels
Coorg is barely 100 km end to end, but the roads twist through estates, forest, and river valleys — the kind of geography where a campervan's freedom to stop matters more than speed. Elephants in the morning, waterfalls by noon, a plantation dinner by dark.

4 Days: Kushalnagar → Dubare → Madikeri → Kakkabe
Drives in Coorg are an hour or two at most — this is a trip measured in coffee cups, not kilometres. Four days is comfortable; five lets you add the Nagarhole forest edge.

Arrive Kushalnagar. The golden temples of Bylakuppe — one of India's largest Tibetan settlements — then Nisargadhama's bamboo island on the Cauvery. First plantation night just outside town.

Dubare → Madikeri. Elephants at the river first thing, then the climb into the hills. Abbey Falls in the afternoon, Raja's Seat for sunset, and Pandi curry with akki roti for dinner — Kodava food is reason enough for the trip.

Madikeri → Kakkabe. Estate roads south through pepper vines and cardamom. Nalknad Palace, a coffee-tasting session at a working estate, and a night parked under the peaks.

Tadiandamol & out. Early trail up Kodagu's highest peak for the ridge views (3–4 hours return), late breakfast at the caravan, then an easy run out — Mysore is two hours, Kannur's coast three.

Post-monsoon Coorg: everything drenched green, rivers full, harvest starting on the estates. Cool nights around 14°C — blanket weather, not heater weather.
Jan – Mar
Dry, bright, and by March the coffee blossom turns whole hillsides white and fills the air with jasmine-like scent — the district's best-kept secret week.
Jun – Sep (Monsoon)
Coorg at full volume — waterfalls raging, mist everywhere, empty roads. In a homestay it's damp; in the caravan, with hot showers and a dry bed, it's atmospheric. A genuine off-season play.

Coorg Caravan Trips — Common Questions
Yes. My Rolling Homes runs chauffeur-driven caravan trips through Coorg (Kodagu) — coffee country, Dubare, Abbey Falls, and the Western Ghats ridgelines — at ₹19,900 per day plus taxes. Our caravan is based in Delhi NCR, so Coorg runs either as part of a longer South India expedition or with vehicle positioning arranged ahead of your dates. Inside the plantations. Coorg's coffee estates are privately owned and many welcome caravan guests by arrangement — we park you under the silver oaks with the coffee bushes starting a few metres from your door. It's the estate-stay experience without the estate-stay tariff, and the estate's own homestead kitchen is usually a short walk away.
Start at Kushalnagar with the Tibetan monastery at Bylakuppe and the elephants at Dubare, climb to Madikeri for Abbey Falls and Raja's Seat, then go deeper — Kakkabe under Tadiandamol peak, or south through Gonikoppal towards the Nagarhole forest edge. Three to five days covers it without ever feeling rushed.
October to March is the classic window — dry, cool (Madikeri nights drop to 12°C), and the coffee blossom around March scents the whole district. The monsoon (June to September) is a legitimate second season if you like Coorg moody: waterfalls at full force, mist in the valleys, and almost nobody else around. The caravan makes monsoon travel practical — you're warm and dry whatever the sky does.
